Tuulikki Laesson

Tuulikki Laesson (born March 19, 1969 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian chess player . She has held the title of International Women's Champion (WIM) since 1992 .

Life

Tuulikki Laesson learned to play chess at the age of six. She studied in Tallinn and is a lawyer. She worked for the Estonian Ministry of Economy and Communication from 1996 to 2005 and is the head of a law firm in Tallinn.

Her coaches were Jevgeni Kaljundi until 1982, Iivo Nei in 1983 and Igor Rõtov and Rainer Raud from 1984 to 1987.

She was able to win the Estonian women's individual championship twice : in 1993 and 1996 (both in Tallinn). In 1986 (in Tartu ) and 1998 (in Tallinn) it took second place, in 1992 and 1997 (in Tallinn) third place. With the Estonian women's national team, she took part in five chess Olympiads between 1992 and 2004 , including in Yerevan in 1996 on the top board, with a positive overall result of 27.5 points from 46 games (+23 = 9-14). She played club chess for the club CC Fellin / Eesti Telefon , with whom she reached third place in the Estonian team championship in 1997.

Her Elo rating is 2210 (as of August 2020), which puts her in third place in the Estonian Elo ranking of women, but she is listed as inactive because she has not played a rated chess game since the Estonian team championship in March 2007 . Her highest rating to date was 2290 from July 1996 to June 1997.
