The Tvistein (Norwegian for double stone ) are two rock columns flattened at their tips on the Antarctic Peter I Island . They rise up 1.5 km south of Cape Eva .
The Norwegian captain Eyvind Tofte discovered them in 1927 on the Antarctic voyage of Odd I (1926–1927) financed by the Norwegian whaling entrepreneur Lars Christensen . They were only named two years later in the course of the second Antarctic voyage with the Norvegia (1928–1929), which was also financed by Christensen .
