The Two Oceans Aquarium is a privately operated aquarium in Cape Town , South Africa . It is located in Cape Town's historic port district, the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront .

The aquarium, which was opened in 1995, shows 300 species of fish from the Indian and Atlantic Oceans in over 30 tanks, plus invertebrates such as anemones , jellyfish , tube worms , mussels , snails and crabs . Special attractions include the full two million liters open ocean tank where sharks and stingrays can be seen, and the Living Kelp Forest ( kelp -Forest), which reflects the wildlife on the coast. On a sandy beach with penguins and seals , ebb and flow are simulated at the cape.

It is owned and operated by V&A Waterfront Holdings (Pty) Limited and Investec Bank . The facility is a member of the African Association of Zoos and Aquaria .
