Two Step (dance)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Two-Step ( Two Step ) is a couple dance , which especially in the southern states of the United States is popular and after a quick Cajun music is danced. It bears a resemblance to the polka and includes figures that have found their way into the Discofox . It is not to be confused with the Two Step nightclub .

The two step is also one of the original rhythms in round dance . It is based on 4/4 time and is usually danced at 32 to 44 beats per minute, sometimes faster. The basic rhythm is quick-quick-slow . But there are also figures with the rhythm quick-quick-quick-quick or slow-slow and combinations thereof.

Examples of the different rhythms:

  • 2 forward two steps : Forward left, close right, forward left, -; Forward right, close left, forward right, -;
  • Run 4 : Forward left, forward right, forward left, forward right;
  • Walk 2 : Forward left, -, forward right, -;

In the round dance it is danced to country and pop music.
