Tyler Dietrich

Tyler Dietrich (born July 2, 1984 in Vancouver , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey coach . He was the head coach of Alba Volán Székesfehérvár in the EBEL until August 2016 and has worked for the Canadian association since then.

career

Dietrich played for various teams in the Canadian junior leagues WHL and BCHL , before moving to the University of British Columbia in the Canadian college league CIS in 2005 . After a season he moved to the University of New Brunswick and ended after the 2009/10 season, during which he played for the team at St. Thomas University, his playing career. During his career he had been handicapped by injuries time and again.

Dietrich earned his first spurs as a trainer in the youth sector in Canada when he looked after the Hollyburn Huskies during the 2010/11 season. In 2011 he accepted the offer of the Hungarian club Alba Volán Székesfehérvár and worked in the club's youth work in the following years. In the 2015/16 season he then acted as head coach of the club's second men's team in the MOL league , before he was promoted to head coach of Székesfehérvár's first team, which plays in the Austrian Ice Hockey League (EBEL), in April 2016 . In August of the same year, while preparing for the 2016/17 season, he asked for his contract to be terminated. This request was granted and Benoit Laporte was his successor . Dietrich then worked in various functions for the Canadian ice hockey association, including being responsible for video preparation for opponents in the men's national team during the Germany Cup 2016 and as manager of the junior national team. In December 2017, as a member of the coaching staff, he contributed to winning the Canadian selection at the Spengler Cup  .
