The cargo ships of the type UL-ESC , series Dmitriy Donskoy of the Warnow shipyard are ice-going combined bulk and general cargo carriers with the possibility of container transport.

history

The series was manufactured in thirteen units from 1977 to 1981. The ships are used during the so-called navigation period to transport ore concentrate. Outside of this time, the ships are intended for tramp shipping with bulk and general cargo as well as containers. The complete series was built for the USSR .

  • The first ship and namesake of the series was Dmitriy Donskoy with hull number 101, which was handed over to the Soviet Union on October 24, 1977. It was operated until 2008 and arrived in Jiangyin on December 7, 2008 for demolition. By installing an 18 meter long hull section, however, this became the "new" ship Severnaya Zemlya (IMO No. 9551922).
  • The Stepan Razin went on 23 October 2004 in position 69 ° 21 '  N , 33 ° 28'  O lost.
  • The last ship in the series was the Ivan Susanin , built in May 1981, with hull number 113. She was deleted from the register in 2005/06.

The ship series is proving to be extremely durable today. So far, seven ships have remained in service, which were extended again in 2004.

technology

The ships were propelled by a 8240 kW two-stroke diesel engine of the type K8Z 70 / 120E manufactured under MAN license from the VEB Dieselmotorenwerk Rostock , which acts directly on a fixed propeller.

The ice-reinforced hulls with icebreaker stems are made of high-strength steel and assembled in sectional construction. The deckhouse is air-conditioned. The ships are designed to operate at temperatures down to - 40 ° C.

The six cargo holds with a volume of 22,257 m³ (with grain tanks 26,228 m³) are closed off sea-tight with hydraulic folding hatch covers. If required, 442 TEU containers can be transported.
