Jiangyin

Jiangyin ( 江陰 市  /  江阴 市 , Jiāngyīn Shì ) is an independent city on the southern bank of the Yangtze River and north of the Tai Hu . It belongs to the administrative area of ​​the district-free city of Wuxi , is located in the southeast of the Chinese province of Jiangsu , in the heart of the Yangtze River Delta. The gross domestic product per capita is high for China, exceeding 6,000 US dollars.

The city is a road, rail, sea, river and canal ship node on the lower reaches of the Yangtze. The Jiangyin suspension bridge (3 km) over the Yangtze River connects the southern half of the province ( Jiangnan ) with the northern half ( Subei ). In the vicinity of Jiangyin there are the huge masts of the Yangtze River overhead line crossing , which are higher than the Eiffel Tower .

Jiangyin has a population of about 1,208,800 (end of 2009), covering an area of ​​986.98 km². The city borders the cities of Changzhou and Nanjing to the north and Suzhou and Shanghai to the east . In August 2005, planning began for the development of the 188 km² area “Neustadt am Hafen” with economic and trade zones, etc. The new commercial areas with locations for logistics and trade also include green and ecological zones for residents and tourism. The Neustadt am Hafen will permanently change the face of the city.

Climate and environment

Jiangyin is located in a temperate zone with four distinctly different seasons. The climate here is pleasant, with an average annual temperature of 17.1 ° C. The Jiangyin area features many interconnected bodies of water and productive fields. The area is a well-known "granary". The main crops are rice, wheat, beets, forest products and fruit. The region's specialty is the “Yangtze three fish delicacy”.

Economic framework

Jiangyin has a strong and solid industrial base. Sector focuses are metal industry, high-quality textile industry, precision mechanics industry, color packaging industry, precision mechanics industry and shipbuilding industry. With Huaxi, Sanfangxiang, Xingcheng, Yangguang, Chengxing, Hailan, Fa'ersheng, Xinchangjiang and Shenda, nine of the largest companies have a production base in the city. The total length of the streets in the city is more than 500 kilometers. The Yangtze River Bridge is the longest large span suspension bridge in China and connects the Beijing-Shanghai highway (Jinghu highway) with the Hu-Ning highway (Shanghai- Nanjing ). The waterfront highway (Jiangding in Shanghai- Changzhou ) runs through Jiangyin. Jiangyin Port is located in Lingang . Its port throughput is 20 million tons. It was approved as the first public port by the State Council of China in May 1992. It currently has 57 anchorages, including 22 anchorages with a 10,000 tonne level. The port is an important collection and distribution center for materials on the lower Yangtze, such as petrochemical products, containers, cabbage and grain.

For comparison: the port of Shanghai is 180 kilometers from Jiangyin. Its port throughput is 165 million tons. This has 104 anchorages at the level of ten thousand tons. Development zone "Neustadt am Hafen"

The infrastructure and urban development project "Neustadt am Hafen" covers 188 km² and will change the face of the city in the medium term. The petrochemical park has a sewage center and a combined heat and power plant. The focus of production is on the newly established liquid chemistry and warehouse equipment. By the end of 2006, five quays with 60,000 m³ capacity for chemical production and 20,000 m³ for heavy fuel oil will be created in the garden. One focus of the expansion of the industrial park is the petrochemical industry. 3.8 km² are earmarked for petrochemicals and additional facilities. The Neustadt am Hafen borders the Cheng-Chang motorway to the south and the Ligang River to the east. The precision mechanics area covers an area of ​​around 100 hectares. It already has a complete infrastructure. A future-oriented economic system will be created with a long and continuous production chain, including heavy machinery and shipbuilding as well as the environmental protection industry. In October 2003, a main Chinese customs office was approved. It is one of the two "network monitoring on processing trades" in the country.

Jiangyin Free Trade Zone

The customs-sealed logistics center (type B) is one of the new functional areas in Neustadt. In the first stage, the area is 0.6 km². In the middle is the customs administration zone.

German Park
