Yixing
Yixing ( Chinese 宜興 市 / 宜兴 市 , Pinyin Yíxīng Shì ) is an independent city that belongs to the administrative area of the independent city of Wuxi in the Chinese province of Jiangsu . It is located near the west bank of Lake Tai Hu , about 120 km west of Shanghai . Yixing has around 260,000 residents and is famous for its ceramic products , including artistic teapots and bonsai pots. In addition, the chemical industry is mainly located in Yixing.
history
The earliest settlement finds, with evidence of clay processing, go back 5000 years and prove the long tradition of ceramic production in the region. The Yixing teapot is characteristic .
