Chong'an ( Chinese  崇安区 , Pinyin Chóng'ān Qū ) was a municipality that belonged to the administrative area of ​​the prefecture -level city of Wuxi in the Chinese province of Jiangsu . It had an area of ​​17.2 km². The 2000 census found a resident population of 176,580 in 56,214 households, of which 93,835 were men and 82,745 were women. It was the center and seat of the city government of Wuxi.

Administrative structure

At the municipal level, the city district consisted of eight street districts in 2000. These were Chong'an Si (崇安 寺 街道), Renmin Lu (人民 路 街道), Xueqian Jie (学 前街 街道), Gongyun Lu (工运 路 街道), Zhoushanbang (周 山 浜 街道), Guangrui Lu (广 瑞 路街道), Shangmadun (上马 墩 街道) and Jianghai (江海 街道).

On February 20, 2016, the Chong'an District, along with Nanchang and Beitang, was dissolved and merged into the new Liangxi District .
