The Beijing-Shanghai or Jinghu Highway ( Chinese 京沪 高速公路 , Pinyin Jīng-Hù gāosù gōnglù , English Jinghu Expressway ), Chinese abbreviation G2 , is a 1262 km long highway in China , which connects the capital Beijing in the north Connects Shanghai on the central east coast. The highway opened in the early 2000s.
From Beijing to Tianjin , the highway shares the route with the Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu highway (Jingjintang highway).
The construction of a new line from Beijing to Tianjin is planned.
The name Jing-Hu 京沪 is a combination of the last character of Peking (Beijing) and the character Hu, which stands for Shanghai.
A drive from Beijing to Shanghai takes about ten hours.
