The Hainan Ring Expressway ( Chinese  海南 地区 环线 高速公路 , Pinyin Hǎinán dìqū huánxiàn gāosù gōnglù , English Hainan Ring Expressway ), Chinese abbreviation G98 , is a largely completed, ring-shaped highway on the island of Hainan in southern China . The 613 km long motorway ring first leads south from Haikou through the interior of the island to Qionghai and from there along the southeast coast via Wanning and Lingshui to Sanya . Then the G98 leads back to Haikou via Dongfang not far from the west and north coast. The island of Hainan is currently not yet connected to the rest of the Chinese motorway network, but there are plans to connect the mainland highways G15 and G75 with the G98 on Hainan by means of a bridge.
