Dongfang

Location of the independent city of Dongfang in Hainan

Dongfang ( Chinese 东方市 , Pinyin Dōngfāng Shì ) is a city in the south west of the Chinese island province of Hainan . It is located on the lower reaches of the Changhua Jiang (昌化江). Its administrative area has an area of 2,256.27 km² and extends from 18 ° 43 'to 19 ° 18' north latitude and from 108 ° 37 'to 109 ° 07' east longitude. At the end of 2010 the city had a registered resident population of 408,309 people (population density: 181.0 inh / km²). The actual urban settlement area of Dongfang has 153,726 inhabitants (2010 census). Dongfang reports directly to the provincial government.

history

Dongfang was established as a county in 1952. In November 1987, the district was transformed into the "Dongfang Autonomous County of the Li Nationality" (东方黎族自治县), from whose dissolution on March 12, 1997 the present-day city of Dongfang arose.

Administrative structure

Dongfang consists of eight large parishes and two parishes. These are:
