Piret Järvis (2005)

Piret Järvis (born February 6, 1984 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian singer and member of the Estonian band Vanilla Ninja .

Career

After graduating from high school, Piret began to study media studies at Concordia University in Tallinn (now Baltic Film and Mediaschool) and gained first fame in Estonia as a TV presenter for several television formats such as The Crazy World and Suvefizz . This is how the Estonian producer Sven Lõhmus became aware of Järvis and chose her alongside Lenna Kuurmaa , Maarja Kivi and Katrin Siska for his band project Vanilla Ninja. The lyrics of the first, self-titled album are mostly from Järvis. She also contributed to the lyrics of the third, Blue Tattoo (2005), and the fourth album, Love Is War (2006). Even after her success with the band, Piret Järvis stayed on Estonian television and, for example, hosted the reality show Malaisia in 2005.

Järvis also works as a video jockey with Martin Veismann at MTV Estonia. She also writes articles for the Estonian magazine Woman (Original: Naised) from time to time.

Private

Piret Järvis has been in a relationship with the drummer Kallervo Karu of the Estonian band Slide-fifty since summer 2006 and on June 17, 2008 the couple announced their engagement.

2008–2010: Participation in Tantsud Tähtedega and the Eesti Laul

From October to November 2008 she took part in the show Tantsud Tähtedega , comparable to the RTL show Let's Dance . Her dance partner was the former tournament dancer Mairold Millert. The couple dropped out on November 2 after the fourth broadcast.

Järvis took part in the Eesti Laul 2010 , the Estonian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 . She sang the title Ei Usu against Lenna Kuurmaas Rapunzel with the group Disko 4000 . Both could not win the preliminary round for themselves.

Since 2011: Further participation in the ESC and the Eesti Laul

In February 2011 Kuurmaa and Järvis moderated the Eesti Laul 2011 , in which Getter Jaani emerged as the winner. Piret Järvis read the points at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 on May 14th.

On December 12, 2011, the group Shelton San released their debut album Well Behaved . Järvis took on a guest part in the song Lie Still, Sleep Becalmed . In 2012, Järvis also moderated the Eesti Laul 2012 .
