Best Of is a compilation album of Estonian pop-rock - girl group Vanilla Ninja . The album is a mix of the band's most successful long players, Traces of Sadness (2004) and Blue Tattoo (2005). It was published on December 2, 2005 in Germany , Austria and Switzerland . The producer is David Brandes . All of his publications come from his own label Bros Music , which is located in Weil am Rhein . The compilation reached rank 70 in Switzerland and lasted four weeks there.

production

David Brandes also promoted the two previous albums and all CDs released up to December 2005. The lyrics of all the titles wrote Bernd Opinion . He had performed under his stage name "John O 'Flynn". The private television station RTL II promoted all of the band's CDs and DVDs. The design was created by Jan Weskott. Milan Sajé mixed four of the band's previously released tracks into a megamix . Sascha Kramer and Michael Wilfling photographed the singers in all pictures. Brandes made the instrumentalization together with Jane Tempest.

Markus Wienstroer and Peter Weihe played the guitars. Christoph Leis-Bendorff, David Brandes, Domenico Labarile and Pit Löw programmed the keyboards. The booklet contains all the lyrics and many photos of the band.

Dispute over copyrights

“The song rights for the songs on the albums Traces of Sadness and Blue Tattoo belong to David Brandes. He produced them and the songs were written by "John O'Flynn", songwriter at David's side. Brandes has all rights to the songs and can publish them whenever he wants. "

Vanilla Ninja said it was clear: “Don't buy them. David publishes them without asking us beforehand! "

Suspected chart manipulation

The then current articles by Gracia Baur and Vanilla Ninja were banned from the charts for three months. This affected the Gracia single Run & Hide , the ninja albums Traces of Sadness and Blue Tattoo , as well as their singles Blue Tattoo and ultimately I Know .

The chairman of the Federal Association of the Phonographic Industry, Gerd Gebhardt, emphasized that Gracia and the Vanilla Ninja group were victims of their producer's attempts at manipulation. "This is a Brandes case, not a Gracia case."

"As a further consequence, Brandes had to register its products for a special test for chart determination in the future," said Gebhardt. This special check routine costs around 600 euros per title. The investigation by the Lörrach public prosecutor's office against Brandes did not go back to the federal association. The process was initiated by a group of investors who feel they have been betrayed. Kögel announced that he would also sue Brandes.

After it was made public in 2005 that Brandes allegedly bought thousands of his own CDs himself, Vanilla Ninja separated from him.
