When the Indians Cry ( dt. "When the Indians cry" ) is a song of Estonian pop group Vanilla Ninja . It was released as the fourth and final single from their second studio album Traces of Sadness on August 23, 2004.

The ballad was produced by David Brandes , Jane Tempest and Bernd Augener . After band member Maarja Kivi left , Brandes produced the piece again. The beginning of the song was accompanied by drum sounds and the song was lengthened by about 20 seconds at the end. Here the chorus was sung again. The first version, which can be heard on the album Traces of Sadness , is sung by Maarja and front woman Lenna Kuurmaa . In the second version, released as a single, Kuurmaa takes over the first verse. Triinu Kivilaan , who had joined the band as a replacement for Maarja, sings the second verse in the updated version.

When the Indians Cry was released on August 23, 2004 in German-speaking countries as a normal and 2-track single by the record company Bros Music . In addition to the album Traces of Sadness, it can also be heard on the best-of album. In addition to Tough Enough , Don't Go Too Fast and Blue Tattoo, the song was also used in the title Megamix in 2005 . The four singles on the second album are part of the single collection , along with the single Blue Tattoo . At the 30th edition of The Dome they appeared with When the Indians Cry .

The music video for the song was shot in Spain , Playa Caragol . Mathias Vielsäcker and Christoph Mangler directed the film.

Light of Hope

At the end of 2004 the text of When the Indians Cry was rewritten. As Light of Hope , the version was first released on December 17, 2004 on the compilation Booom 2005 The First - 40 Explosive Hits . Five years later, on November 27, 2009, the title could be heard again on a Christmas compilation. On the CD 's Christmas Hits * [2009] is Light of Hope to hear as the thirteenth song on the second disc.

When the Indians Cry was originally written by Chris Norman and was released in 2001. The song is a completely copied cover; only the melody was produced a bit more rock.

In addition, Simone Stelzer sang the song in 2009 as When the soul is silent on her album Morgenrot . The melody stayed the same, only the text was written in German.
