Ligang

Ligang ( Chinese  里港鄉 , Pinyin Lǐgǎng Xiang , W.-G. Li 3 -kang 3 Hsiang 1 ) is a rural municipality in Pingtung County on Taiwan ( Republic of China ).

location

Ligang is located in the far northeast of Pingtung County on the border with the neighboring city of Kaohsiung . The neighboring communities in Pingtung County are Gaoshu in the east, Yanpu in the southeast, and Jiuru in the southwest. To the west and north, Ligang borders the districts of Qishan (to the west / northwest) and Meinong (to the northeast) of Kaohsiung. The municipal area of Ligangs has an approximately rectangular shape with the edge lengths 11 km × 8.5 km (west-east × north-south). The river Laonong ( 荖 濃 溪 , Lǎonóng Xī ), which comes from the northeast, flows through the municipality , which takes in the smaller river or stream Ailiao ( 隘寮溪 , Àiliáo Xī ) coming from the southeast . After the confluence, the river is named Gaoping . Further downstream, the small river / stream Qishan ( 旗山溪 , Qíshān Xī , alternatively: Nanzixian , 楠梓仙溪 , Nánzǐxian Xī ), which essentially forms the western boundary of Ligang, flows into the merged river. The climate of Ligang corresponds to a tropical monsoon climate .

history

A first settlement on the site of today's Ligang was built during the reign of Emperor Qianlong .

After Taiwan was taken over by the Republic of China in 1945, it became the rural community of Ligang on January 16, 1946, initially within Kaohsiung County and from October 1, 1950 in the newly formed Pingtung County.

The hall is decorated in the typical Fujian style (swallowtail gable etc.).
