Tyskholmen

Tyskholmen is an uninhabited archipelago island in the Borgundfjord in Norway and belongs to the municipality of Ålesund in the Norwegian province of Møre og Romsdal .

It is located near the north bank of the fjord just before the entrance to Ålesund harbor. To the northeast lies the larger island of Hundsvær , to the southwest the small archipelago island of Tyskholmrumpa lies in front of it.

The rocky island has a southwest-northeast extension of about 250 meters and a width of up to about 60 meters. It reaches a height of up to eight meters. It is overgrown with some bushes.

The name Tyskholmen in German means about German island and is said to go back to a German merchant who also owned this island. In July 2014, a little south of Tyskholmen there was a boat accident between a tugboat and a smaller boat, in which a man died.
