Tzipora ( Hebrew : צִפּוֹרָה) is a female given name .

Origin and meaning

The name is the alternative transcription of Tzipporah . This name is derived from צִפּוֹר ( Tzippor ), which means bird . In the Old Testament, this is the name of the Midianite wife of Moses . She was the daughter of the priest Jithro , who was from Zipporah .

Variants are Tziporah, Tzipporah, and Zipporah; in French the name is Séphora .
