The Angerbogen underground station is a ghost station in the urban district of Duisburg in the Huckingen district . The station is owned by the Duisburger Verkehrsgesellschaft (DVG).

Equipment and operation

The elevated station with an intermediate level never went into operation. The side platforms are in two parts with platform heights of 26 and 90 cm, since both normal trams and light rail vehicles should run here.

While the tram line U79 runs through the station without stopping to this day, the bus lines 940, 942 and 946 serve the “Huckingen Angerbogen” stop.

history

In the early 1970s, the city of Duisburg planned a new district for 20,000 residents in the south of Huckingen on the Düsseldorf – Duisburg tram line (since 1988: U79 tram line). The district should also be served by this line. A train station was therefore built here and completed in advance in 1974 , as otherwise the planned funding would not have been made available. Overall, the construction of the subway station is said to have cost the equivalent of 10.5 million euros.

However, the implementation of the new district in the form planned at the time with a large number of high-rise buildings was then abandoned, so that the trains have passed Angerbogen without stopping since then. Only in 2002 did the development of the area previously intended for the new district begin. Instead of high-rise buildings, the area was now largely built on with single-family houses.

The station remains closed, however, and the entrances are walled up. There is also a lack of funds for demolition .
