The United States Army Signal Corps ( USASC ) is the telecommunications force of the US Army . Signal Corps command is based in Fort Gordon , Georgia .

history

The military branch was founded in 1860. In 1870, the Signal Corps established the National Weather Service . In the early days of aviation, military airships and the first aircraft also belonged to the Signal Corps.

The Signal Corps and its beginnings were immortalized in literature in the novel Der Deutsche Lausbub in Amerika by Erwin Rosen .
