UN climate summit 2019
The UN Climate Change Conference 2019 ( English UN Climate Action Summit in 2019 ) took place on 23 September 2019 in New York City instead. The host was UN Secretary General António Guterres .
The Secretary General of the United Nations invited to the climate summit "in order to accelerate the implementation of the Paris climate agreement " and thus to meet the challenges of climate change . The focus was on the partnership between nations, companies, cities and civil society. The aim of the summit was to implement the Paris Agreement and to give momentum to sustainable development policy . In addition to numerous heads of state and government, one of the speakers at the event was the Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg , who had already traveled emission-free to New York on the sailing yacht Malizia II in August 2019 .
Youth climate summit
The start of the preceding the climate summit themed event weekend was formed on September 21, a youth climate summit ( English Youth Climate Summit ), appeared on the speaker of the younger generations and presented their demands.
