USSD codes
GSM-USSD codes ( Unstructured Supplementary Service Data ) are service and control commands in the GSM cellular network, which consist of a sequence of digits, double crosses (#) and stars (*). These twelve characters are stored on every keyboard . The control commands for the cellular network must then be sent with the "green receiver".
Various settings in the network and on the SIM card can be changed with USSD codes . A cellular connection can thus be configured individually, this applies in particular to forwarding and the behavior of the mailbox .
USSD codes work similarly on every mobile phone - a clear advantage over controlling the same functions from the command menu: the menus of many mobile phones are different. In addition, menu entries do not always allow the use of all GSM functions that can be accessed via codes. Which services and settings can be changed in the network is determined by the activation profile of the card; these differ depending on the network operator .
Postpaid and prepaid cards can make a difference. The codes are linked to a dedicated GSM service in the HLR , which is freely configurable or permanently activated. As a rule, this means that prepaid customers can neither " knock on " nor set the "ringing time extension", as call forwarding to the answering machine is permanently set by most mobile network operators .
Code table (selection)
With some mobile phones, the following commands are already sent with the final pound key. As a rule, you only start the function call with the Select button. Not every code is supported by every provider or every tariff. Answers usually appear directly on the display, but they can also come in the form of an SMS.
