USS President
Two ships of the US Navy were named USS President after the office of President of the USA .
- The first USS President was a frigate with (nominally) 44 guns. Launched in 1800, she was captured by the British in 1815 and served in the Royal Navy as HMS President , but was scrapped in 1818.
- The second USS President was a 12-gun sloop that was acquired for use on Lake Champlain in 1812 and put into service with the US Navy. She was captured by the British in 1814 and commissioned by the Royal Navy as HMS Icicle .
