US Open Polo Championship

The US Open Polo Championship was first held in 1904 at Van Cortlandt Park in New York City .

In the first game, the Wanderers defeated the Meadowbrook Freebooters .

The youngest player to win the US Open Polo Champions was polo star Nicolas Roldan , then just 15 years old.

In 2009 at the US Open in Florida , 21 horses of the polo team from Venezuela died . During the game preparation phase, dizziness, breathing difficulties and disorientation of the horses occurred. The cause of death was suspected to be poisoning, presumably from the animals' food. The value of the deceased horses was estimated at $ 2.1 million.
