The Utva Aero 3 ( Serbian - Cyrillic Утва Аеро 3 ) was a piston engine-powered aircraft for the beginner training of the Yugoslav manufacturer Utva to replace the Ikarus Aero 2 . A total of 110 units were built for the Yugoslav Air Force and were in service from 1958 to the mid-1970s. In the following years they were replaced by the Utva 75 .

Construction and history

The Aero 3 was developed as a beginner's trainer aircraft, with teachers and students sitting one behind the other under a two-part canopy . It had a non-retractable tail wheel landing gear and was powered by a Lycoming O-435 piston engine. The Aero 3 was also equipped for night and instrument flight training and was introduced to the Yugoslav Air Force from 1956.

Today some Aero 3 are still flown at aviation clubs.
