The Independent Voting Community Wattenscheid is a local political group of voters that was founded on September 23, 1969 in Wattenscheid .

Since the incorporation to Bochum on January 1, 1975, the UWG has been campaigning for more investments in facilities in Wattenscheid and in particular for the reconnection of Wattenscheid to an independent city. To this day it has failed to achieve this goal.

She is running in Wattenscheid for the Council of the City of Bochum and the Bochum-Wattenscheid district council. In this she holds the majority together with the CDU and the FDP . In 1975 she also ran for the Bochum-Südwest district representation with the districts of Dahlhausen , Linden and Weitmar . There she reached 2.1% of the valid votes.

Wattenscheid: 1969: City Councilor, then District Representation.

Specialty

When the district council was elected in 1975 (first choice), there was a special feature. Only those parties that were represented in the council of the respective independent city could also send members to the district assembly (in the citizens' committee). Since the UWG Wattenscheid was not represented in the Bochum council, it was also not represented in the Wattenscheid district assembly, even though it received significantly more than 10% of the valid votes in the election in the city district.
