Work and meaning
Zavqiy wrote mainly lyric poems and satires. He was fascinated by Russian science and its skills. Muhyi , Muqimiy and Furqat were among his poets .
In November 1917 he wrote a poem in which he satirized the newly installed Kokander autonomy, the Basmati movement and the ulama . Another poem from this phase attacked the Shora-i Islam , the autonomy and the Basmati and glorified the Bolsheviks . Zavqiy was arrested and corporal punished by the Basmati leadership in 1920, from which he eventually died.
Zavqiy is considered one of the "developers" of Uzbek critical realism , the Soviets recognized in his work a "democratic tendency" under the influence of Russian culture.
