Uday Prakash

Uday Prakash (born January 1, 1952 in a village in Madhya Pradesh ) is an Indian author and television producer.

After losing his parents at an early age, he grew up in a small town in Madhya Pradesh state. He studied Hindi literature, worked in the local cultural administration and then switched to journalism. He was for the weekly Hindi news magazine nine years Dinmaan the Times of India operates. He later took on editorial responsibility for the Sunday Mail and the monthly Eminence .

His poems, novels and essays have been included in numerous anthologies and translated into many Indian and European languages.

He has the following books in English translation: Short Shorts Long Shots , a collection of angry short stories against corruption, institutional irresponsibility, social injustice and human arrogance, Rage Revelry and Romance , narratives that address the dilemma of post-colonial societies, and the novel The Girl with the Golden Parasol (2008). Many of his works have been arranged for the stage and performed by well-known national and international ensembles.

The author himself has produced a number of critical documentaries and docu-dramas for television.

He lives and works in New Delhi .
