Udo Breitbach

Udo Breitbach (* 1960 in Plaidt ) is a German Roman Catholic clergyman .

Life

Udo Breitbach studied theology and philosophy in Trier and Munich. The bishop of Trier , Hermann Josef Spital , ordained him as a priest in 1986 . He was active in pastoral care in Trier and Saarbrücken. After studying canon law from 1989 to 1991 at the Pontifical Gregorian University , he was vice- rector of the Collegio Teutonico di Santa Maria dell'Anima from 1991 to 1992 . In 1992 he worked for the Bishops' Congregation of the Roman Curia. In 1996 he also took over the management of the House of the German Bishops' Conference in Rome. In 1997 he was at the Gregorian to the doctor of canon law doctorate .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on January 25, 2012 as Undersecretary of the Congregation for Bishops , for which he had worked since 1992.
