Udo Mientus

Udo Mientus (born December 18, 1942 in Nakel , Upper Silesia) is a German politician (SPD). From 1986 to 2003 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament.

Mientus finished school in 1960 with secondary school leaving certificate. From 1960 to 1965 he completed an apprenticeship and training for the senior service in the statutory pension insurance at the Hanover State Insurance Institute. After his training, he worked there until his election to the state parliament in 1986, only interrupted by the time when he did basic military service from 1966 to 1968. Mientus has been a volunteer in union work since 1963. He is a member of the OTV trade union and the Arbeiterwohlfahrt, and since 1965 a member of the SPD. Mientus has been a member of Barsinghausen's city council since 1972. On June 21, 1986, he entered the state parliament of Lower Saxony, to which he belonged for four terms until mid-2003. Since 2001 he has been a member of the regional assembly of the Hanover region.
