Udo Willenbücher (born May 11, 1944 in Nordhorn ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and was City Director from 1996 to 2001 and Mayor of Peine from 2001 to 2006 .
Life
After graduating from high school in Hildesheim, Willenbücher studied law in Hamburg. He then worked in the administrative service of the administrative districts of Lüneburg and Braunschweig as a government director or department director (inter alia in municipal supervision ). When it became clear in 1996 that the administrative level of the administrative districts of Lower Saxony would be dissolved, he moved to local government .
In 2001 Willenbücher was elected the first full-time mayor of the city of Peine. His goals included bringing the city administration closer to the citizen by founding a citizens' office and further developing Peine into a logistics location using the transport links to federal motorway 2 and the steel works bridge completed in 2003, as well as effective city marketing. On November 1, 2006, Willenbücher handed over his office to his successor Michael Kessler (SPD).
