The Uettelsheimer See is located in the Homberg district of Duisburg and is a local recreation area . In the north it borders on Baerl, in the west on Moers and in the south it borders on the Homberger Parkfriedhof.

Gravel excavation resulted in a water surface of 23 hectares, the area (97 hectares) of which was expanded between 1969 and 1992. The shorelines were prepared, paths and a park landscape were created, and areas of retreat for flora and fauna were created.

In the immediate vicinity of the lake there are 7.5 km of hiking trails, including a 3.5 km long circular route, some of which are close to the shore. On the south-western bank there is a water playground with a 7.5 m tall, three-story ship. The lake is a fishing spot, but there are no bathing opportunities.

The Uettelsheimer See is fed by groundwater and changes its water level with the level of the Rhine approx. 1 km away .

Together with the municipal companies, the Haesen und Gerdt citizens' association campaigns for the ecological concerns of the Uettelheimer See and for bird protection.
