Uganda National Bureau of Standards

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is the Ugandan body for the standardization of procedures in industry, trade and consumer protection. It is a member of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the African Regional Organization for Standardization (ARSO) and reports to the Ugandan Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Industry. Its director is Dr. Ben Manyindo.

The creation of the UNBS was decided by enactment in June 1983 and took up its function in 1989. UNBS is based in the Nakawa Industrial Area near Kampala and has offices in Lira , Mbale , Jinja , Kampala and Mbarara .

The organization has around 85 permanent and 30 freelance employees.
