Ugly As Sin was a post-punk / pop-rock band from London formed in 1989.

history

The band Ugly As Sin was founded in 1989 by singer and songwriter Ian Walker and was under contract with China Records . Boris Pikula was added as the second founding member (July 1989), followed by Fiona Lawrence (August 1989). The band was initially supposed to be marketed as a “three-pack”, hence the name of the album title The Good, the Bad and the Ugly .

In the summer of 1989, the recordings for the first album The Good, the Bad and the Ugly started in the 16-track MEX ONE studio in Watford with Paul Mex as producer. It was released during the UK tour with The Stranglers in early 1990.

The first concert was on October 3, 1989 at Kings Head in Fulham, London, followed by a tour as opening act for Havana 3am (formerly The Clash ) from October 3 to November 21, 1989. The second tour was together with the rock Trio Underneath What from Brixton from February 5 to February 17, 1990. Immediately afterwards the 3rd tour started in the opening act of the Stranglers from February 19 to March 21, 1990. This tour was the last with the original singer Hugh Cornwell of the Stranglers and ended up sold out at the Brixton Academy.
