Ulises Pivel Devoto

Ulises Pivel Devoto (born 1923 in Montevideo ; † September 27, 1981 ) was a Uruguayan politician .

It came from the large marriage of Juan Pivel and Laura Devoto. Pivel Devoto belonged to the Partido Nacional and represented the interests of Lista 51 of the Movimiento Popular Nacionalista in parliament . There he sat in the 37th legislative period, initially as a deputy member of the Department of Montevideo from November 3 to December 13, 1955 in the Cámara de Representantes . In the two subsequent legislative periods he was then elected MP from February 15, 1959 to February 14, 1967. During this time, except for the period from June 16, 1959 to February 14, 1963, he again represented Montevideo. In the aforementioned intermediate phase, however, he represented Paysandús interests . As part of his parliamentary activity, he also held the presidency of the Chamber in 1961 as successor to Alejandro Zorrilla de San Martín . Ciro Ciompi replaced him in this position the following year . Pivel Devoto, who was married to Rosa Ziegler and had two daughters Cristina and Claudia , also headed the Instituto de Cultura Hispánica in Uruguay.
