Ulla Terlinden

Ulla Terlinden (* 1945) is a German sociologist and urban and gender researcher.

Life

Ulla Terlinden grew up in Kleve on the Lower Rhine . After training in graphic design, she studied sociology and urban planning at the Technical University of Berlin . From 1978 to 1983 she was a research assistant for urban and regional sociology.

This was followed by an independent activity in the office for urban planning and urban sociology (in an office shared with Kerstin Dörhöfer) with expertise in the provision of housing for abused women, social planning in redevelopment areas and the cultural history of housing.

In 1988 she did her doctorate at the Technical University of Berlin, where she qualified as a professor in sociology. She then took on visiting and substitute professorships. From 1995 to 2008 she was a professor for the socio-economic foundations of urban systems at the University of Kassel . From 1998 to 2000, as dean, she was responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of English-language studies in the “City” project area of ​​the International Women's University at the Universities of Kassel and Hanover.

She is a member of the German Society for Sociology and the Section for Urban and Regional Sociology as well as in the Friends of the Archives of the German Women's Movement in Kassel. Her research and teaching areas include sociological urban research and gender studies in urban planning and architecture.
