Ulrich Lotzmann

Ulrich Lotzmann (born December 18, 1956 in Dassel ) is head of the dental department for orofacial prosthetics and functional theory at the University Clinic Gießen-Marburg ( UKGM ).

biography

Lotzmann began his career as a dental technician in Northeim . Then he studied at the University of Göttingen . After receiving his doctorate in 1987, he worked at the University Medical Center Göttingen . In the 1990s he was an assistant professor for research and teaching at the University of California, San Francisco . 1994 was the habilitation at the University of Göttingen. In 1995 he became a professor at the University of Marburg . Since 2002 he has been the managing director of the Medical Center for Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine at the Philipps University of Marburg .

In addition to his professional publications, Lotzmann became known, especially in the English-speaking world, for his contributions on space travel. He commented on photos from NASA , worked for example with Alan Bean and made photos of original parts of the Apollo 12 flight. In recognition of his contributions to the topic, an object from the list of asteroids, numbers 16501 to 17000 with the designation (16724) Ullilotzmann, was named after him in 2016 . He also owns items from the Apollo program from his father's collection, which have already been exhibited in the Senckenberg Nature Museum.
