Ulrich Schapka
Ulrich Schapka (born January 2, 1942 in Hanau ) is a German librarian and orientalist .
Life
Schapka first studied business administration at the University of Frankfurt / M., But then at the University of Würzburg Iranian Studies, Islamic Studies and Indology. After completing his doctorate and working as a research assistant at the University of Würzburg, Schapka joined the higher library service in the state of Baden-Württemberg. At the University Library of Tübingen, he initially worked as a specialist in Iranian Studies in the DFG- funded special collection area . In 1993 he became deputy director and was director of the university library from 2003 to 2008.
In addition to his work as a librarian, he held a teaching position for Iranian Studies at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen and was appointed honorary professor in 2005.
