The Ulugan Bay is a mostly landlocked bay on the north coast of the municipality of Puerto Princesa in the province of Palawan in the Philippines .

It is a sea bulge in the south of the South China Sea and cuts deep into the land mass of the island of Palawan. It marks the narrowest point on the island. To the northeast of the bay is the famous Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park .

On the coast, towering hills, beaches and extensive mangrove forests alternate with numerous coral reefs and smaller islands. The rivers Banaog, Kamanglet, Sia, Buruang, Egdasen, Baheli and Kayubo, which have their source in the surrounding hills , flow into the bay. The tidal range in the bay is about 1.22 meters. The coastal plain is relatively narrow and rarely more than a kilometer wide.

The bay has a tropical and humid climate with a dry season from January to April, the rest of the year sometimes heavy rainfall . The mean annual precipitation is approx. 2200 mm / m². Average monthly temperatures peak in April at 28.7 ° C and the coolest month is November at 26.6 ° C.
