Transfer track
A Umsetzgleis - even engine line called - is a turning system of a railway or tramway that the change of direction is used.
With its help, can end point single-track random routes locomotives the car or tram railcars the sidecar drive around, to sit back on top of the train. Then you can drive in the direction from which you came before. In the case of trams, a transfer point , transfer point or coupling point is used to distinguish such systems from simple butt end points or turning loops or track triangles . Terminals with a transfer track can be used to enable a train crossing . In this case, the second arriving train can only perform its maneuvering process when the first train has left the transfer terminal.
The track geometry of a transferring track mostly corresponds to a turnout on an open line, but there is usually a stump track or pull-out track on one of the two sides that is only used for shunting . This usually has a buffer stop or some other track termination .
