The Umwelt-Technologische Gründerzentrum Augsburg ( UTG ) is a regional business development institution. It is a publicly funded location in the east of Augsburg for start-ups and young entrepreneurs from the environmental and technology sectors. On June 19, 1998 it was u. a. inaugurated by the Bavarian State Minister Otto Wiesheu and the Mayor of Augsburg Peter Menacher .

Financing and investments

The buildings were financed as part of the Bavarian High-Tech Offensive with funds from the Free State of Bavaria , the City of Augsburg and the Chamber of Commerce Swabia in order to advance the expansion of the Augsburg-Swabia environmental competence center . The Free State of Bavaria, the City of Augsburg, the IHK Swabia and the Chamber of Crafts for Swabia are involved in the environmental and technological start-up center .

Area and location

Between 1997 and 1999, three eco-optimized buildings with a usable area of ​​around 5,700 m² were built on an area of ​​around 11,000 m². There are regularly 30 to 40 companies from the environmental and technological sectors. The UTG is located in the environmental park in Augsburg and is an important component of this. The UTG companies employ around 210 people and have registered patents and property rights. The economic benefit is 6.43 million euros. With the Umweltcluster Bayern e. V. and KUMAS e. V. two important supraregional environmental networks are located in the UTG.

The federal motorway 8 runs to the north . The “Umweltzentrum” bus stop was set up directly west of the UTG as part of the 2007 Augsburg Future Prize.
