Uncompahgre National Forest

The Uncompahgre National Forest in a 4000 km² national forest in the southwest of the US state Colorado in the counties Gunnison , Hinsdale , Mesa , Montrose , Ouray and San Miguel . It borders the San Juan National Forest to the south . The forest is divided into two parts, the Uncompahgre Plateau and the San Juan Mountains . In the Umcompahgre National Forest there are also the three wild areas Umcompahgre Wilderness , Mount Sneffels Wilderness and Lizard Head Wilderness .
