Unión Fenosa, SA ( UNF ) was a Spanish conglomerate with three main businesses: electricity , gas and telecommunications . Formerly listed in the IBEX-35 index , the company was acquired by Gas Natural Fenosa in 2009 .

The core business is the production, distribution and marketing of electricity in Spain. Unión Fenosa or its successor Gas Natural Fenosa is the third largest electricity supplier in Spain after Endesa and Iberdrola . In 2008 the turnover was 7.19 billion euros. In addition to Spain, the group also operates in Latin America . Approx. 12,780 people were employed.

Unión Fenosa was created in 1982 through the merger of the Spanish energy suppliers Unión Eléctrica and Unión Eléctrica Madrileña y Fuerzas Eléctricas del Noroeste SA In July 2008, Gas Natural bought the Union Fenosa shares from Grupo ACS .
