Grupo ACS ( Actividades de Construcción y Servicios, SA ) is a listed Spanish construction company based in Madrid . ACS is one of the largest construction companies in Europe. The long-standing company president is Florentino Pérez . He is also president of the Madrilenian soccer clubs Real Madrid and next to the family March , Alberto Alcocer and Alberto Cortina main shareholder of the company.

history

The company was founded in 1983 when a team of engineers acquired Construcciones Padrós SA , a construction company that was in financial difficulties. In 1993 the company acquired a majority stake in Cobra SA , a service company, and merged with OCISA SA to form OCP Construcciones .

ACS was founded in 1997 through the merger of the companies OCP Construcciones and Ginés Navarro Construcciones . In 1999, the environmental company Onyx SCL was bought and 2000 stakes in telecommunications companies Xfera and Broadnet . Then Dragados SA , a major contractor established during World War II to dredge the port of Tarifa, was taken over; since 2003 experience has been gained in the fields of hydropower and civil engineering.

Takeover of Hochtief

In March 2007 August von Finck junior sold 25.08 percent of his Hochtief shares to ACS for 72 euros per share. The transaction thus had a volume of 1.264 billion euros. ACS acquired additional shares and held a 29.9% stake through September 2010. On September 16, 2010, ACS announced a public takeover offer for the remaining shares in the form of an exchange offer of eight ACS shares for five Hochtief shares. On November 29th, the takeover of Hochtief by ACS was approved by BaFin . Hochtief called this offer a hostile takeover . On January 4, 2011, ACS announced that it held over 30% of Hochtief's shares. On June 17, 2011, Hochtief announced in a mandatory notification that ACS's share of voting rights had exceeded the threshold of 50% the day before. ACS currently holds a 50.41 percent stake in Hochtief. Another shareholder is Atlantia SpA with 23.86% (as of November 2018).
