Cesium release in 1998

A sensational incident occurred in 1998 at one of the Los Barrios factories. There, when scrap was processed, radioactive 137 Cs entered the processing process. This led to a release of radioactivity into the air and made complex and expensive decontamination of the system necessary. The cesium spread in diluted concentrations to Central Europe.
