The army uniform through the ages

Wearing uniforms is specified in Army Regulation 670-1 .

Earmarked versions

The current combat suit of the United States Army is called Army Combat Uniform , the most striking feature of which is its digital camouflage pattern .

The dress uniform of the United States Army is called Full Dress or Army Blue . Since the end of 2007, it has replaced the formerly white gala uniform as well as the classic service suit called Army Green . Handing out to the recruits is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2009 and become mandatory in the last quarter of 2011.

The service or guard uniform ( Service / Garrison Uniform ) was introduced in the mid-1950s to replace the olive-dark yellow uniform used since 1902. It is cut exactly like the full dress and is kept in today's “official” army green . Until the 1980s, the shirt was yellow-brown and the tie to be worn was black. However, this part was replaced in the protocol by a green shirt to match the rest of the uniform. In this uniform, crew grades wear their rank on both sleeves, while officers wear their rank insignia on their shoulder boards. The latter also wear ribbons on the cuffs and stripes on their trousers, each made of black mohair wool . In 2001, berets were also combined with the uniform after the use of the Green Berets and Rangers was extended to the entire US Army . Plastrons , boots and pistol belts are worn for open-air ceremonies , while crew ranks wear black hard leather shoes on duty, which only rangers, paratroopers and special troops with special leather boots, the so-called corcorans, differ from.
