United Church in Papua New Guinea

The United Church in Papua New Guinea (United Church in Papua New Guinea) was created in 1968 under the name United Church in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands through the merger of the London Missionary Society (active in the former British-Australian part of Papua New Guinea ), the Presbyterian Church (mainly Port Moresby ) and the Methodist Mission (mainly active in the islands of Papua New Guinea and the northern and western Solomon Islands ).

In 1996 the United Church in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands split into the United Church in Papua New Guinea and the United Church in the Solomon Islands .

The church has approximately 600,000 full members.
