The Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica (UNA) is a Central American public university founded in 1973 with headquarters in Heredia , capital of the province of Costa Rica of the same name .

According to the last international university comparison, the UNA ranks 1549 worldwide.

The UNA offers more than 65 subjects with degrees in human sciences, sociology, philosophy, art, theater and other courses of study.

Sandra León Coto has been the rector since 2010.
