Heredia is the smallest province of Costa Rica and is located in the north of the country. In the north it borders on Nicaragua , in the east on the province of Limón , in the south on the province of San José and in the west on Alajuela . The capital is Heredia (City of Flowers). The province has an area of 2657 km² (5%) and in 2011 had 433,677 inhabitants (10%).
