Universidad de Playa Ancha de Ciencias de la Educación

The Universidad de Playa Ancha de Ciencias de la Educación is a teacher training college in Chile . It belongs to the so-called Traditional Universities of Chile , which were founded before 1980, and to the Universidades del Consejo de Rectores . The university has over 10,000 students.

In 1948 the Instituto Pedagógico de la Universidad de Chile was founded in Valparaíso with the intention of expanding language studies. Education courses in Spanish, French and English were offered, followed by philosophy in 1951 and a year later the first Chilean school for journalism and the Escuela Normal for women were founded.

The following training opportunities have been set up:

  • 1956 German language education
  • 1962 biology, philosophy, history and geography
  • 1963 elementary school education
  • 1969 Library Science BID area
  • 1971 Art education, music education and pre-school education
  • Special education

The university campus is located on Calle Playa Ancha 850, Valparaíso and in San Felipe .
